How to get started, what the flags mean, and what to do when something isn't right.

Getting started

ThinkAgain works as soon as it's installed.
It flags pictures and video as you browse, and blurs the ones it finds to be AI.

  1. Install ThinkAgain from the Chrome Web Store.
  2. Click the puzzle piece next to Chrome's address bar and pin ThinkAgain, so its icon stays in view.
  3. Click the icon to see what ThinkAgain found on the page, or to switch it off for that site.
  4. Choose how strict it is in Settings: Relaxed blurs AI Generated, Balanced (to start with) also blurs AI Assisted, and Human only blurs everything that isn't Human-made.

To open Settings, right-click the icon and choose Options.

What the flags mean

Each flag describes the evidence ThinkAgain found.
Your setting only decides which ones are blurred.
Hover over a flag, or tap it, to see why it's there.

FlagMeansBlurred at
Human-madeIts Content Credentials check out: taken on a camera or made by a person, with no AI.Never
Likely Human-madeThe details point to a person and nothing to AI, but they couldn't be verified.Human only

AI AssistedPartly made or edited with AI, labelled as AI by the site, or reported by you.Balanced and Human only
AI GeneratedIts details, an invisible watermark or Gemini's sparkle say AI made it.Always

Most pictures online get no flag at all, because nothing was found either way.
At Human only, those are blurred too.

Common questions

Why isn't this AI picture flagged?

ThinkAgain only flags what it can show evidence for: the file's details, Content Credentials, watermarks, a website's label or Gemini's sparkle.
An AI picture with all of that removed looks like any other.
Report it and it's hidden for you.

Why is this real photo flagged?

Open the flag to see the reason.
If it's wrong, click This is not AI in the flag.

What's the pause screen?

Before an AI site such as ChatGPT opens, ThinkAgain shows what the site is and why it was paused.
Choose Go back, Continue, Pause for 2 hours or This isn't an AI site.
You choose the sites in Settings.

Why is a YouTube video blurred?

YouTube labelled it as altered or synthetic, its title says it's made with AI, or it's from a channel you hid.
The flag says which.

What's the Deep Check?

Right-click any picture and choose ThinkAgain: Deep Check for a full report.
It also has links to ask Google, Meta or OpenAI about their own invisible watermarks, which only they can read.

What is Adobe's watermark check?

An extra check for Adobe's invisible watermarks.
It's off to start with, because it uses Adobe's servers.
Turn it on in Settings under Where ThinkAgain looks.
It downloads once, then runs on your computer.

Reporting AI, and saying something isn't AI

  • Report as AI: right-click a picture, video, selected text, link or the page, and choose ThinkAgain: report as AI.
On a touch screen, press and hold instead.
  • This is not AI: open a red or orange flag and click This is not AI.
It shows again straight away, with a grey flag saying you marked it.
  • Hide a YouTube channel: right-click the channel's name and choose ThinkAgain: hide this channel.

Reports only change what's on your screen.
For harmful content, report it to the site too.
If it's intimate images of you, StopNCII.org can help.

Something not working?

  1. Reload the page.
After ThinkAgain updates, tabs that were already open need a reload.
  2. Check it's on for this site.
Open the toolbar window, or look in Settings under the sites it doesn't apply to.
  3. A site looks broken: switch ThinkAgain off for that site, then tell us which site and what went wrong.
  4. Still stuck: go to chrome://extensions, turn ThinkAgain off and on again, then reload the page.

Before you remove ThinkAgain: Chrome deletes your settings, hidden channels and reports when it's removed.
Save a backup first in Settings.
Updates keep everything.

When you write, say the page address, what you expected, what happened, and the version (at the bottom of the toolbar window).
A screenshot helps.
