Privacy policy
Effective 11th October 2026.
The short version
ThinkAgain checks pictures, video and pages on your own computer, and never collects your browsing history.
A few things can leave your computer, each for a stated reason.
Each is listed below, with what is sent and when.
ThinkAgain is made by Black Elm Studio ("we"), and you can reach us at support@getthinkagain.com.
This policy covers the ThinkAgain Chrome extension, this website and emails you send us.
What stays on your computer
All of ThinkAgain's checks run on your computer: reading a file's details and Content Credentials, looking for invisible watermarks and Gemini's sparkle, and reading AI labels and titles on pages.
To check a picture, ThinkAgain reads the file from the address your browser already loaded it from, without your cookies or sign-ins.
These are kept in Chrome's storage on your computer and never sent to us:
- Your settings, the sites you've excluded and the channels you've hidden.
If you use Chrome sync, Chrome copies your settings to your other computers through your Google account, as it does for any extension. - Simple counts, such as how many AI answers you skipped.
Never what you searched for. - The items you reported or marked as not AI, so they stay hidden or shown.
- Adobe's watermark check, if you turned it on, so it's only downloaded once.
What leaves your computer, and when
Only the items below are sent anywhere, and only at the moments listed.
None of them includes your name, email address, browsing history or cookies.
| What | Sent to | When | What is sent |
|---|---|---|---|
| Adobe's watermark check | Adobe | Only if you turn it on in Settings (off to start with) | A one-off download of the check. Then, when a picture carries an Adobe watermark, the watermark's ID number only. Never the picture or the page address. |
| Creator identity check | The identity service, for example Adobe | When a picture names a verified person | A request for the service's public key, at most once a day. Nothing about the picture. |
| Deep Check lookup | Adobe | Only when you choose Deep Check on a picture, and its watermark ID alone finds nothing | A small copy (512 pixels) of that one picture. |
| Meta's PixelSeal watermark | The service that registered the watermark | Only in a Deep Check, and only if the watermark is found | The watermark's ID number only. |
| Reports | Our report service | Only when you send a report, or say something isn't AI | What you chose in the report; the address of the item and page, and the page title; up to 280 characters of text for a text report; your explanation, if you wrote one; a random install ID; the version and the date. |
| Checks by other companies | Google, Meta or OpenAI | Only when you click Check with Google, Meta or OpenAI in a Deep Check | Their page opens; Google Lens is given the picture's address. Their own privacy policies apply. |
| Feedback and goodbye pages | This website | When you click Send feedback, or once after you remove ThinkAgain | The page opens with ThinkAgain's version number in its address. Feedback itself is only sent if you choose to email it. |
The random install ID lets us spot repeated or automated reports.
It's created on your computer, isn't linked to your Google account or to you, and changes if you reinstall ThinkAgain.
Reports carry no name, email address or Google account, and we don't record your internet address with them.
A page address, or something you type in an explanation, could still identify you, so please leave personal details out of what you write.
What ThinkAgain never does
- It never collects or stores your browsing history, searches or the pages you visit.
- Its data is never sold, rented or shared for advertising, and it shows no ads.
- It never uses analytics, tracking or fingerprinting, in the extension or on reports.
- Its data is never used to train AI, or for anything unrelated to ThinkAgain's purpose.
- It never reads passwords, form entries, emails or private messages.
The use of information received from Google APIs follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
This website and email
This website currently sets no cookies of its own, uses no analytics or tracking, and loads nothing from other companies.
If that changes, this policy will say so first.
The website is hosted by Cloudflare, which handles your internet address to deliver the pages and protect the site from attacks, under its own privacy policy.
If Cloudflare needs to check for automated traffic, it may briefly set a security cookie.
We don't keep logs of visits.
If you email us, including feedback, we use your email address and message only to reply and to improve ThinkAgain, and delete them when they're no longer needed.
Our email is handled by Cloudflare and Google.
Why ThinkAgain needs each permission
Chrome shows these when you install.
Each is used only for the purpose below.
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Read and change data on all websites | To check the pictures, video and sound on the pages you visit, flag or blur them, and read AI labels. The checks happen on your computer. |
| Block content on any page | To show the pause screen before AI sites, and to keep Google Search on web results when you choose that. |
| Storage | To keep your settings and the items you reported on your computer. |
| Offscreen document | To run the watermark and Content Credentials checks in the background without slowing pages down. |
| Context menus | For the right-click options: Deep Check, report as AI, this is not AI, hide this channel. |
| Alarms | To end a pause-screen pass when its time is up, and retry a download that failed. |
How long we keep reports, and your rights
Reports are kept for 24 months to improve ThinkAgain's checked list of AI content, then deleted.
They're stored with Google (in Google Sheets, through Google Apps Script), which processes them for us.
We rely on your consent for reports (you choose to send each one), and on our legitimate interest in making ThinkAgain work for the lookups.
Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask us to see, correct, delete or stop using the reports you've sent.
Email support@getthinkagain.com with the date and page of the report.
You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
To delete everything ThinkAgain keeps on your computer, remove the extension from Chrome.
Reports waiting to be sent are deleted with it, and so are settings Chrome synced to your Google account.
Save a backup from Settings first if you plan to reinstall.
Children, changes and contact
ThinkAgain isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly receive reports from them.
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top and say what changed in ThinkAgain's release notes.
A change that sends anything new from your computer will be announced in the extension before it takes effect.
